Please consider this a high recommendation for Bear Country Living, and owners, Louise and Bill Smith. My father suffers from dementia and requires supervision and prompting for daily living needs. After unsatisfactory personal experiences with independent/assisted living, rehabilitation/assisted living, and memory care facilities, we turned to a national organization that introduced us to the Smiths and their Florida licnsed home facility.

This facility and staff provides a peaceful, beautiful, clean and caring atmosphere and environment for our loved one. While in several of the previous institutions, Dad had said several times, "I would like to live in a real home". Dad does now.

Several of the points that "sold" us on Dad's move to Bear Country Living were as follows:

-Licensed and monitored by the state of Florida;

-English speaking, care, respectful, trained staff;

-Low to no staff turnover; clean, comfortable, peaceful, inviting facility;

-Spacious areas inside and out to enjoy daily living, nature, and Florida weather;

-Nutritious home cooked meals with variety and personal preferences;

-Prompting for completion of personal hygiene and daily tasks is done by all personnel in a respectful and positive manner rather than ordering or condescending tone;

-Supervision and activity interaction is personal and most caring;

-Medications are closely and well monitored, all medical needs are immediately addressed with  family;

-Laundry is extremely well done. It is always clean and properly put away

-Client care and well-being are the staff's primary function and it shows;

-Family and visitors are always welcomed and encouraged to visit.

When sharing with Dad's physician our decision to move Dad, the doctor's comment was not to "dump" him off in some private home. Since that comment, the doctor has apologized and is also very impressed wtih Dad's physical and mental well-being as a result of the care he receives at Bear Country Living.

While Dad cannot always carry a conversation for long or without repetition, when asked how he likes his "home" his answer is "I'm fortunate to live here".

We take Dad out for short outings, but he always is ready to go "home". , Louise and Bill Smith, and their staff provide our family peace and deep appreciation.

Should you have a need for adult care, a visit to meet Louise and Bill Smith and tour their "home", lovely patio overlooking the gardens, birds, domestic animals, and more is one that will surprise and greatly educate you on how care and living conditions can and should be.

This is submitted with much appreciation and respect for the dedication and service that Lousie and Bill Smith and Bear Country Living provide.

I stayed at Bear Country Living for 2.5 years and am now living on my own, thanks to the care I received. Everyone is so friendly and nice. You really feel like part of a family. The meals were fantastic and the ironing superb. I highly recommend this facility.
